Hello, my name is Beatriz Fernández Sánchez and I am a wicker basket maker

For more than 30 years I have dedicated myself to this craft, a job that goes far beyond weaving fibres: it is part of my life. Each basket I make carries a little piece of me, of my history and of everything I have learnt over the years.

The most beautiful thing about this journey has been being able to share it. I love teaching those who want to learn, but if there is one thing that fills my heart, it is working with children. Seeing their little hands shaping the wicker, their astonishment at discovering what they can create? There is nothing that makes me happier.

Wickerwork is an ancient craft, a tradition that I do not want to see lost. Each basket, each piece, is a link with the past and a way of carrying it into the future. As long as my hands continue to weave, I will continue to put soul into each of my works.
